After facing breast cancer head on, I knew that I had to share my breast cancer journey with others. When I was diagnosed at the age of 37, I had my mom ‘s wisdom and love and the experience of her 2 times battling breast cancer. She cried with me, she laughed with me and she helped me get through tough times. I wanted to take that love, empathy and listening ear and help others feel that they are not alone. I wanted to teach others how to empathize and truly help others in the midst of a health crisis. Through this, my podcast DJ Breast Cancer was born.
When a friend from my support group (Wonder Woman Sandy) had a recurrence and passed away in July of 2018, I was motivated with a passion to do something NOW and take action. My podcast is dedicated to my dear friend Sandy. She would want me to help others and make a difference. She inspires me to do more, be a better friend, and tell others that I love them.
As a 5 year survivor, I do not take my health for granted. I try to find the good in each day. I want to make a difference in the world for whatever my time is left. I am trying to organize other podcasters of breast cancer to join forces to make our voices louder and help others battling cancer. Together, we can make a difference!!
